Acrylic Wi-Fi Heatmaps makes use of current and accessible hardware for capturing in monitor mode (promiscuous mode) in Windows. Remember that you can capture in native mode with any WiFi card. Learn the differences between monitor mode vs. native mode.
WiFi hardware that supports monitor mode in Windows is common and inexpensive. These are conventional WiFi cards that have been tested to work properly in Acrylic Wi-Fi Heatmaps to capture WiFi traffic in monitor mode.
Acrylic Wi-Fi Sniffer integration capabilities are outstanding, allowing these cards to take full advantage of their potential: capture in all 2.4 and 5GHz (a/b/g/n/ac) standards, in all channel widths (20/40/80/160 MHz) including Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) measures, and total integration with other tools such as Wireshark to capture WiFi traffic in monitor mode.

Capture capabilities of Acrylic products depending on the card used:
GPS support
The georeferenced measurements are obtained by connecting a GPS dongle (through USB or Bluetooth) compatible with NMEA 0183, or an embedded GPS. Please check the manufacturer's required configuration when connecting the GPS dongle.
RF spectrum analysis
RF spectrum analysis requires specific hardware, such as Wi-Spy devices.
There is no need to install any drivers. Once connected to the USB port, Acrylic Wi-Fi Heatmaps will detect the device and it will be ready to use.
Measurements accuracy
The accuracy of the measurements can vary from a few cm when the location is referenced manually on a plan to 2-5m when GPS coverage is used.
High quality heatmaps
Create high quality WiFi coverage maps to view the site survey collected data. Select the information you want to show, choose between heat maps or 3D maps, select a colour scale and ready!
How often measurements should be made
Usually a grid of a 5-10m distance between each Measurement can be used. This value can be increased in open spaces or reduced to obtain a higher accuracy in close spaces.
